NTAC Urges Uganda-Bound Volunteers to Represent Nigeria

Is’haq Ahmed, Abuja

The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, NTAC Dr. Yusuf Yakub, has urged 28 prospective NTAC volunteers bound for the Republic of Uganda to serve as worthy Ambassadors of Nigeria.

He urged them to demonstrate integrity, professionalism and exemplary conduct throughout their two-year assignment.

Speaking during the orientation programme held at the NTAC Complex in Abuja, Dr. Yakub congratulated the volunteers on their selection and described the Volunteers as highly qualified professionals chosen to represent Nigeria under the Technical Aid Corps Scheme.

He expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, for their continued support of the Scheme.

Reminding the volunteers of their responsibility as representatives of Nigeria, Dr. Buba said, “Whatever you do, whether good or bad, is a reflection of who you are representing. You are representing Nigeria. You are our technical ambassadors.”

He explained that the Technical Aid Corps Scheme, “established in 1987, remains one of Nigeria’s key foreign policy tools, deploying skilled professionals to African, Caribbean and Pacific countries to strengthen institutions, bridge manpower gaps and promote South-South Cooperation.”

The Director-General encouraged the volunteers to remain committed to selfless service and assured them of NTAC’s continuous support throughout their deployment.

Earlier, the Director of Programmes, Ambassador Bello Jaiye, welcomed the volunteers and noted that the orientation was designed to prepare the volunteers for their international assignments while reminding them that they would be carrying Nigeria’s image wherever they served.
