The APC Forum of Former Presiding Officers of State Houses of Assembly (FOPSHA) has commended the economic and infrastructure reforms of the President Bola Tinubu administration, describing them as critical to national development and improved governance.
The commendation was given at the Forum’s National Executive Council (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting in Abuja, where members also reaffirmed their support for the implementation of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Chairman of FOPSHA, Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun, said the forum remained committed to contributing its legislative experience to democratic governance and supporting policies that advance the welfare of Nigerians.

“Our forum was established to provide a united platform through which former presiding officers can contribute meaningfully to national development, deepen democratic institutions, promote good governance, and support policies and programmes that advance the welfare of the Nigerian people,” he said.
Eshinlokun said the current administration had introduced reforms that provide a strong foundation for sustainable economic growth and national progress.
He cited ongoing economic reforms, investments in infrastructure, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), efforts to strengthen local government autonomy, agricultural development, industrial growth, improved security and social welfare initiatives as key achievements.
“These achievements provide a compelling basis for us to speak with confidence about the need for continuity, consolidation and sustained national progress under his leadership,” he stated
The FOPSHA chairman also urged members to strengthen grassroots engagement and support policies that would drive national development.
“We must continue to foster unity among our members, expand our influence at the grassroots, and position APC-FOPSHA as strategic stakeholders within the APC family and the broader Nigerian political landscape,” Eshinlokun said.
Also speaking, Senator Simon Bako Lalong described the forum as a platform capable of supporting government reforms through its extensive grassroots network.
According to him, former Speakers and Deputy Speakers posses significant community-based political structures that could help deepen public understanding of government policies.
“The vote comes from the community. Grassroots mobilisation is the key, and former Speakers understand the grassroots because they have represented their constituencies and led their various State Assemblies,” Lalong said
He said that effectively mobilising those grassroots structures would strengthen support for the administration’s reform agenda and contribute to national development.
The meeting ended with members reaffirming their commitment to promoting party cohesion, strengthening democratic institutions and supporting initiatives aimed at advancing economic growth, infrastructure development and improved governance across the country.
