The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed appreciation to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, for his continued support and invaluable counsel to the administration of President Bola Tinubu since its inception.
Mrs Tinubu recalled the long-standing relationship between the Tinubu and Abubakar families, noting that “the Sultan had consistently supported the administration and remained a dependable source of guidance.’
The First Lady made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Sultan’s Palace in Sokoto.
Mrs Tinubu explained that “the visit was to thank the Sultan.’
In his remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar stated that as leaders, there is a need to keep seeking divine intervention especially for those group of people who have been perpetrating evil in the land.
He said that “his prayer is that those people would come to true repentance and lives devoid of vices.’
The Sultan commended the First Lady for her various interventions through the Renewed Hope Initiative, which he noted has touched the lives of millions of Nigerians.
The Sokoto State Governor Dr Ahmad Aliyu thanked Mrs Tinubu for the visit to the revered monarch, re-echoing the impact of the Renewed Hope Initiative on the lives of Nigerians.
He described the various interventions as “people centered, aimed at improving the lives of women, youth, children and families in general.”
At the end of the visit, the Sultan of Sokoto enjoined Ulama’s to lead prayers for the Nation, the President, the First Lady, the State Governor, himself and Sokoto State as a whole.
