The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed Senator Emma Anosike as the recognised chairman of the party in Anambra State, despite an earlier court ruling restraining him from acting in that capacity.
Chairman of the APC NWC Fact-Finding and Reconciliation Committee, Dr Ben Nwoye, made the declaration on Monday during a courtesy visit to Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State ahead of a stakeholders’ reconciliation meeting scheduled for Tuesday in Awka.
Nwoye explained that although a court had removed Anosike from office and restrained him from parading himself as state chairman, the party secured a stay of execution pending the determination of its appeal.
“Senator Emma Anosike remains the chairman of the party in Anambra State until further notice. He is our chairman,” Nwoye said.
He said the reconciliation committee was constituted by the APC National Working Committee to resolve the leadership crisis in the state and restore peace and unity ahead of future political contests.
The committee comprises the National Woman Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele; Deputy National Secretary, Prof. Festus Kana (SAN); National Legal Adviser, Barrister Murtala Kankia; and the National Leader of Persons with Disabilities.
Nwoye said the delegation visited Governor Mbah to express appreciation for his support for the party’s peace mission in Anambra.
“The purpose of our visit is to thank Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for accepting to support the National Party’s peace mission in Anambra State. We considered it important to appreciate him before proceeding with our engagements in the state,” he said.
According to him, the committee had already consulted party stakeholders in Abuja and would continue the reconciliation process in Awka through engagements with party leaders, youths, women, persons with disabilities and grassroots members across the state’s 326 wards and 21 local government areas.
He said the exercise was aimed at reassuring party members of the National Working Committee’s commitment to restoring unity and strengthening the APC in the state.
“We are going to tell members that peace has returned. APC is united and ready to fight for every single vote and every elective position in Anambra State,” he said.

Nwoye also dismissed reports that the APC governorship candidate in Anambra, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, had left the party.
“Anyone saying that Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu has left the party is not telling the truth. He remains a bonafide member and leader of the party in Anambra State and has actively supported the reconciliation process,” he said.
He added that Ukachukwu participated in reconciliation meetings in Abuja, where party stakeholders resolved to work together in the interest of the APC.
Responding to concerns over the appointment of individuals perceived not to be APC members into President Bola Tinubu’s administration, Nwoye said such appointments were within the President’s constitutional powers and reflected an inclusive approach to governance.
“Our President is not governing strictly along party lines. There are non-partisan individuals serving in this administration, and the choice of members of his team is entirely his constitutional prerogative. We will continue to support him,” he said.
Nwoye maintained that the committee’s assignment remained focused on restoring lasting peace within the Anambra APC, describing the reconciliation exercise as a confidence-building initiative aimed at strengthening party cohesion ahead of future elections.
