The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has promoted and decorated 57 officers in Anambra State.
The State Commander, Commander of Narcotics Onubogu Charles, urged the beneficiaries to see their promotion as a call to greater responsibility, professionalism and integrity in the fight against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
The promotion ceremony took place at the Command’s Operational Base in Onitsha, according to a statement by the Agency’s spokesperson in Anambra, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Chukwuemeka Nwosu.
Addressing the officers, Onubogu said the promotion was not just a reward but a challenge to remain committed to the Agency’s mandate.
“Your promotion is a call to greater responsibility, discipline and renewed commitment. You must continue to uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism in the service of the nation,” he said.
The State Commander noted that the promotion exercise reflects the commitment of NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.), to staff welfare, motivation and institutional reforms.
He said that regular promotions have boosted morale and strengthened the Agency’s capacity to tackle substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Assistant Commander of Narcotics Uche Agomoh thanked the NDLEA leadership for sustaining timely promotions and supporting the career growth of personnel.
“We remain loyal, disciplined and committed to protecting society from the devastating effects of illicit drugs,” Agomoh assured.
The exercise saw officers promoted across several ranks, including four elevated to Assistant Commander of Narcotics and 20 promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics, alongside other advancements.
NDLEA said the promotions underscore its commitment to rewarding excellence, motivating personnel and enhancing its operational capacity in the fight against illicit drugs nationwide.
