The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) will host the 2026 edition of its Advertising Industry Colloquium (AIC) on August 6.
The AIC, which has reached its fourth edition this year, is aimed at bringing together key stakeholders to discuss the future of advertising and marketing communications.
The annual forum aims to strengthen collaboration between industry and academia while addressing emerging trends, innovation and regulatory issues shaping the sector.
Themed: “The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulations,” the colloquium will convene regulators, policymakers, advertisers, advertising agencies, media organisations, digital platforms, technology companies, legal experts, academics, brand custodians and content creators.
Chairman of the National Planning Committee, Rotimi Olatunji, said the event comes at a critical time as artificial intelligence, digital platforms, technological innovation and changing consumer behaviour continue to transform the advertising industry.
“These developments present significant opportunities for innovation and economic growth while simultaneously raising important questions around ethics, consumer protection, transparency, accountability and regulatory oversight,” Olatunji said.
The colloquium will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions led by experts from government, regulatory agencies, academia, professional bodies and the private sector. Speakers include Olu Akanmu, Dozie Mbanefo, Prof. Adepoju Tejumaiye, Dotun Babatunde and Omowunmi Owodunni.
A major highlight of the event will be the Students’ Advertising Pitch Competition, where finalists from six tertiary institutions representing Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones will compete. The participating institutions are the University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Kaduna State University, Ebonyi State University, Rivers State University and Lagos State University.
ARCON said the colloquium reinforces its commitment to promoting professionalism, creativity, fairness, consumer protection and global best practices in Nigeria’s advertising industry.
The council also urged stakeholders across the advertising value chain to participate in the event and contribute to building an innovative, inclusive, ethical and future-ready advertising ecosystem.
The 2026 edition, AIC 4.0, is the fourth consecutive colloquium organised by ARCON’s Advertising Industry Colloquium and Journal Committee since its inauguration in 2022 by the Director-General, Dr Olalekan Fadolapo. The committee also publishes the annual ARCON Journal of Advertising and Marketing Communication.
