The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced major disciplinary and operational actions involving the sanctioning of 79 personnel for professional misconduct.
The NSCDC also announced the arrest of 12 suspects implicated in critical infrastructure vandalism and illegal arms dealing.
The spokesman of the Corps, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, while parading the suspects at the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja, said the Commandant General of the Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, emphasised the Corps’ commitment to institutional transparency, public safety and zero tolerance for compromise.
Afolabi said that, following investigations conducted under the Public Service Rules and the NSCDC Conditions of Service, disciplinary proceedings were concluded for 75 personnel. The affected officers include one Assistant Commandant General (ACG), two Deputy Commandants (DCs), 35 other senior officers, and 37 junior officers.
“The established infractions ranged from job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, and absence on duty without official leave, to acts prejudicial to state security, and Sanctions applied against them include dismissal, compulsory retirement, and recommendation for criminal prosecution,” he said.

According to him, investigations into the February 18, 2026, incident at Rafin Gabas, Nasarawa State, which claimed the life of Mining Marshals Location Commander Levi Agada, found that two personnel, Hosea Habila and Jibrin Labaran, unlawfully engaged suspected illegal miners with firearms. Both have been dismissed from the service and recommended for criminal prosecution.
Additionally, four personnel are currently undergoing disciplinary proceedings being handled by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS), in collaboration with the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police, regarding alleged illegal arms dealing. They are facing both internal disciplinary measures and legal prosecution.
In another development, the Corps spokesman said nine suspects were nabbed by the CG’s SIS at different locations in connection with related crimes in Ebonyi, Enugu, Kogi, and Niger states, as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
The NSCDC said its operatives arrested six suspected vandals transporting a full trailer load of stolen railway sleepers concealed in a blue DAF trailer at Sabon Wuse on July 25, 2026. It also arrested two suspects for alleged electrical cable vandalism.
The Corps emphasised that the actions of the sanctioned personnel do not reflect the integrity and dedication of the vast majority of NSCDC officers nationwide.
All suspects and affected personnel retain their constitutional rights to due process as administrative and legal proceedings continue.
The NSCDC urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue sharing actionable intelligence to safeguard national security.
