The Mountain Top Chorale of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has won the Champions Competition at the 2026 World Choir Games in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The Nigerian choir first clinched gold in the Spiritual Category with 87.38 points before emerging champion of the Champions Competition.
The achievement was announced by the World Choir Games and MFM.
The choir, conducted by Oluwasegun Okedunmola, represented Nigeria at the 14th edition of the international competition, which brought together more than 160 choirs and 8,500 participants from over 40 countries.
MFM General Overseer, Dr Daniel Olukoya, congratulated the choristers, conductor and the choir’s leadership, describing the victory as a significant achievement for both the organisation and Nigeria.
In a social media post, Olukoya commended the team for its discipline, dedication, excellence and teamwork, saying the performance had brought honour to Nigeria on the international stage.
He said the achievement demonstrated the country’s musical talent and ability to compete successfully at major international cultural events.
The 2026 World Choir Games, billed as the world’s largest international choir competition, is being held from August 6 to 16 in Helsingborg, Sweden.
The event features choirs from more than 40 countries competing in various categories, including the Champions Competition for experienced choirs.
