Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Marks Golden Jubilee

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria’s Elders Group, Majlis Ansarullah, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a Golden Jubilee Conference in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In a statement issued by the Media Lead of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Qasim Akinreti, the six-day conference is scheduled to hold from Tuesday, 18, to Sunday, 23, August 2026, at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.

The conference, themed “Faith-Based Solutions to Global Challenges”, will feature courtesy visits to Islamic and traditional rulers, political and opinion leaders, security officials and senior government officials in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

As part of activities marking the anniversary, a two-day free medical camp will be organised at the General Hospital, Iberekodo, Abeokuta. The medical outreach will be declared open by the Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria, Alhaji Alatoye Folorunso Azeez.

Other highlights of the conference include special lectures, prayers for Nigeria, sporting activities, speech contests, Qur’anic recitation and quiz competitions.

The lectures will focus on topical issues, including “Leadership Lessons for Modern Life: Applying Prophetic Diplomacy in Peacebuilding” and “Increasing Morbidity and Mortality of Non-Communicable Diseases: The Role of Early Detection in Prevention and Control”.

Other topics are “Khilafah: A Central Pillar of Muslim Unity” and “Memory, Mind and Mental Health in Old Age”.

According to the statement, leaders of Majlis Ansarullah from the Benin Republic, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon and Sierra Leone are expected to attend the conference.

 

Among the Special Guests of Honour are the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun; former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; former Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Alhaji Sarafadeen Ishola; and Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, among others.

Traditional rulers expected at the event include the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo; the Olówu of Òwu Kingdom, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola Oluyalo Otileta VII; and the Orunda of Olorunda, Oba Joshua Olusegun Philips Ogunsola Enitan.

The statement also listed Islamic leaders, government officials, academics, traditional rulers, security personnel and representatives of Muslim organisations among the expected guests.

The Golden Jubilee conference is expected to provide a platform for discussions on faith, leadership, health, unity and peacebuilding, while promoting dialogue and community engagement.
