Beninese legend Angélique Kidjo is about to set a new record as the first African musician to be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Billboard reports that Kidjo will be celebrated in the Recording category. The unveiling ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, United States.
This milestone means Kidjo will be both the first African musician and the first Black African artist to receive a star on the famous walkway.

Actor Willem Dafoe and music executive Harvey Mason Jr. are listed to speak at the event as guest speakers.
Kidjo is a five-time Grammy Award winner. Over the years she has built a global career across music, culture, and humanitarian work. She has also used her platform to spotlight African culture and back various social causes.
The Hollywood Walk of Fame honour adds to her many international awards and further puts African music on the world stage.
According to news reports, the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a well-known Los Angeles landmark. It has more than 2,800 terrazzo-and-brass stars set into the pavements to recognise major figures in entertainment.
Each star is a permanent pink-and-charcoal, five-pointed monument placed in the pavement to celebrate individuals and characters for outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry.
