The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has hosted an inter-agency meeting to advance preparations for the official launch of the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) Initiative in Nigeria.

The meeting, chaired by the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Professor Charles Anosike, brought together key agencies involved in disaster risk reduction, meteorology, hydrology, communications and space technology.

The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, attended the meeting, while the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Aminu Maida, joined virtually.

Also represented were the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NiHSA), the National Space Research and Development Agency, NASRDA, and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, UNDRR.

During the meeting, the Local Organising Committee presented an update on preparations for the national launch, outlining key inter-agency engagements, milestones achieved and priority actions.

The Inter-Agency Technical Committee also presented the Nigeria EW4All Implementation Roadmap 2026-2029, which provides a framework for coordinated implementation of the initiative and identifies priority actions for relevant institutions.

The meeting further strengthened collaboration among participating agencies and reaffirmed their commitment to developing people-centred, multi-hazard early warning systems to improve disaster preparedness, climate resilience and the protection of lives and livelihoods across Nigeria.
