Benue Governor Inaugurates New Television Board

Governor Hyacinth Alia has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of the Benue State Television Corporation, urging members to embrace modern technology and innovative broadcasting.

Governor Alia gave the charge in Makurdi, the state capital, during the inauguration ceremony.

The Governor said the rapid evolution of the media industry had made it imperative for television stations to continuously adapt to emerging technologies and changing audience preferences in order to remain relevant.

He urged members of the board to bring their wealth of experience, professionalism and dedication to bear on their new assignment, stressing that the Benue Television Corporation must be repositioned to effectively serve its audience and compete favourably with other broadcast stations.

Governor Alia further tasked the board with ensuring prudent and effective management of the corporation, strengthening the capacity of its workforce and promoting quality content that would showcase the culture, achievements, potentials and developmental aspirations of Benue State.

He expressed confidence that the board, in collaboration with the management and staff of the corporation, would develop innovative strategies to expand the station’s reach, enhance its sustainability and improve its overall performance.

Speaking to newsmen after the inauguration, the Chairman of the Board, Reverend Father Dr Patrick Alumuku, assured the Governor that the members would work closely with the management and staff to transform the corporation into one of the best and most preferred television stations in Benue State and beyond.

Father Alumuku, who is also the Director of Catholic Television in Nigeria, thanked Governor Alia for the confidence reposed in the board and pledged to deploy the members’ expertise and experience towards achieving the administration’s vision for a modern, effective and vibrant Benue Television Corporation.

He said the board was ready to support initiatives aimed at strengthening the station, improving its operations and positioning it to compete effectively in the rapidly changing broadcasting environment.
