2027: APC Presidential Campaign Council Woos Oyo Monarchs

From Olubunmi Osoteku, Ibadan

The 2027 All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) has visited the palaces of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, to seek their royal blessings.

The Council was led on the visit, barely 24 hours after its inauguration, by the Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, a former Governor of Zamfara State, accompanied by some governors who are also members of the Council.

At the Oke Aremo Palace of the Olubadan, Yari said the visit became imperative because of the significance and roles of the traditional institution in the country.

The Director-General noted that for the assignment to record good success, there was a need for the prayers and wise counsel of traditional rulers.

He revealed that the visit was part of efforts to take the message of the Council to stakeholders across Oyo State because of its historical significance to the leadership of the party.

He said: “President Tinubu has mandated us to visit all the traditional rulers nationwide in the course of carrying out the responsibility bestowed on us, which is to deliver him as re-elected President of the Federation on 16th January, 2027.

Yari said that the adopted strategy for electioneering would be to campaign on the track record of President Tinubu, which he said cuts across all the sectors of the nation’s economy, and what would be done after being sworn in for the second term in office on May 29, 2027.

He stated: “Today, our economy is on the right path. This has been attested to by the survey conducted by the International community.

“All the projects started by the previous administrations in the country are receiving due attention by the present administration. While some have been completed, others are ongoing.”

In his address, Oba Ladoja thanked the members of the Campaign Council for the recognition accorded to the traditional institution nationwide.

He lauded the contribution of the Tinubu-led administration to the socio-economic growth of the country, noting that if Tinubu contests as an independent candidate, he would still have the support of the people.

My takeaway from the event is what the President told the Director-General: he has come not as the President but as a presidential candidate, and that it was your responsibility to deliver him,” he stated.

Oba Ladoja said that is the key message he took away.
