President Tinubu Support Group Begins Southeast Mobilisation for 2027

Chinwe Onuigbo, Awka

Supporters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria (RTIFN) movement have commenced grassroots mobilisation across the South-East ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The mobilisation was announced at the movement’s South-East zonal town hall and strategic meeting in Awka, Anambra State, attended by coordinators, state officials, patrons, supporters and other stakeholders from the five South-East states.

The meeting focused on strengthening the group’s grassroots structures and taking information on Federal Government programmes and policies to communities. The movement’s Director-General, Ahmed Bala, was represented by its National Secretary and Chief of Staff, Eleojo Audu.

The Anambra State Coordinator, Chika Aniemena, said the meeting was designed to promote civic engagement, educate citizens on government programmes and encourage peaceful participation in national development.

He said the South-East had considerable human and entrepreneurial potential and could contribute more to Nigeria’s development if supported by appropriate policies and infrastructure.

The National Director, Town Hall and Special Duties of the movement, Dr Farida Ibrahim, said the gathering was aimed at promoting dialogue between citizens and government rather than merely praising the administration.

Ibrahim praised President Tinubu for what she described as efforts to address Nigeria’s economic challenges and also commended Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for policies she said were contributing to development in the state.

She identified education, support for small businesses, infrastructure, transportation, agriculture and digital development as areas requiring sustained attention in the South-East.

Ibrahim urged youths and women to take advantage of government programmes providing access to education, finance and skills, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

She said traders, artisans, farmers, transport operators, technology entrepreneurs and manufacturers remained critical to the region’s economy, adding that the South-East should be a major partner in building the Nigerian economy.

While acknowledging the hardship associated with economic reforms, she urged citizens to remain patient while demanding transparency, accountability and results from government.

Speaking after Ibrahim, the South-East Coordinator and Convener of the movement, Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo, said the group would intensify grassroots mobilisation across the region to promote President Tinubu’s policies and secure support for his re-election.

He defended the administration’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of petrol subsidy, describing them as necessary measures to stabilise the economy.

Onunkwo said the group had compiled 333 achievements of the administration nationwide, including between 44 and 47 projects and programmes in the South-East.

Onunkwo listed NELFUND, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, railway projects, road construction and the South-East Development Commission among the projects and programmes highlighted by the movement.

He said RTIFN would work with other pro-Tinubu groups, including the City Boy Movement, to intensify mobilisation in Anambra and other South-East states.

He also disclosed that he had been appointed National Director for Organisational Improvement of the movement while retaining his position as South-East Coordinator.

A patron of the movement, Mr Donald Chidi Amamgbo, called for Tinubu’s re-election, citing what he described as the administration’s projects and reforms.

He urged the South-East to approach the 2027 election as a political negotiation rather than an emotional contest, arguing that supporting the incumbent could give the region greater leverage to demand political and developmental concessions.

The Enugu State Coordinator, Johnson Ani, urged supporters to take the campaign to wards, local government areas and polling units, while the Ebonyi State Coordinator, Dr Henry Alo, called for sustained mobilisation at the community level.
