Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 25 kidnapped victims in separate operations across Katsina and Zamfara states, marking another significant success in efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and protect civilians.
The operations were conducted on September 3, 2026, with troops of Sector 1 rescuing two victims in Katsina State following a night patrol along Kwanar Kura in Sabuwa Local Government Area.
The Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement, saying troops engaged the terrorists with overwhelming firepower, forcing them to flee into surrounding bushes.

The troops subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists along their escape routes and rescued two victims who had earlier been abducted along the Dandume–Damari Road. Two motorcycles were also recovered during the operation.
In Zamfara State, troops of Sector 2 rescued 23 abducted civilians, comprising three males and 20 females, during a fighting patrol on the outskirts of Wuya Town in Anka Local Government Area.
Preliminary debriefing indicated that the victims had been abducted from Gummi Local Government Area and held in terrorist captivity for approximately three weeks.
The rescued victims were subsequently evacuated for medical attention and further debriefing.
The two operations underscore the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect civilians, disrupt terrorist activities and rescue persons held in captivity across its Joint Operations Area.
The Joint Task Force said its troops remain committed to sustaining offensive operations and denying terrorists the freedom of action to threaten communities across the North West.
