Troops have rescued six kidnapped victims after engaging suspected terrorists along the Wasagu-Ayu Road in Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The operation was conducted on September 2, 2026, following credible intelligence on suspected terrorist activity around Mehinua Village.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 swiftly mobilised to the area after receiving the intelligence and made contact with the terrorists.

The troops engaged the terrorists with heavy fire, forcing them to flee and abandon the kidnapped victims, revealing that all six victims were subsequently rescued unharmed, while the vehicle involved was also recovered.
The victims and the recovered vehicle were handed over to the relevant community authorities for further necessary action.
The successful intervention reflects the continued efforts of security forces to protect lives and property and disrupt terrorist activities threatening communities across the region.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA acknowledged the continued support of members of the public and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
The task force stressed that timely information remains crucial to enabling security forces to respond promptly to emerging threats and strengthen the protection of communities across the theatre.
