Niger State to cater for widows of slain Security personnel

The Niger State government in North central Nigeria has planned to henceforth take the full responsibilities of families of deceased security personnel that died during operations against banditry and other similar crimes.

The State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello stated this during a visit to Ma’undu, a deserted farming community in Mariga Local Government Area of the State.

The Community according to reports has been deserted by its members barely a year due to the constant banditry activities.

Governor Bello stressed on the need for synergy among the states affected by banditry activities to yield the desired results.

He further suggested for a highly coordinated joint operations amongst the states affected by the acts of banditry as the only solution to bring an end to the nefarious activities of bandits and kidnappers in Niger state and other affected states.

“The aim of of the visit to the deserted community was to boost the moral of the over 300 security operatives including vigilantes that librated the community and to assess damages inflicted on the community by suspected bandits,” Governor Bello said.

The Governor said that feeder roads and culverts would be provided for the Mu’andu Community to ease mobility.

”We commended the security operatives for their gallantry in pushing the bandits out of the community. The state will do everything possible in taken care of the families of decreased security personnel as well as supporting them especially in the areas of logistics and welfare for optimum results,” he said.

The State Commissioner of Police, Monday Kuryas, said that security agencies in the state would not relent in their effort to restore peace.

Kuryas confirmed to the Governor during the tour that there have been lots of security operations against the bandits by the combine security agencies.

Mu’andu is one out of several deserted communities in Niger State and other neighbouring state, due to the series of attacks by bandits,

The combined security operations in collaboration with the local vigilante teams is by no means yielding positive result in the ongoing war on banditry, cattle rustling ,kidnapping and other crimes alike in Niger State.
