The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has officially begun a comprehensive remodelling of its headquarters in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
The Managing Director/CEO of the Commission, Cyril Yiltsen Tsenyil, stated this after inspecting the headquarters.
Tsenyil expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing and funding the agency to address long-standing developmental needs across the North Central geopolitical zone.
He also commended the Chairman of the North Central Governors Forum and Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, for providing and furnishing the initial operational space and transferring the additional massive structure currently undergoing expansion.
The CEO further said the remodelling project is valued at over ₦400 million and carries a strict 16-week completion timeline.
He emphasised that the commission is roughly one year into its operational mandate, urging the contractor to maintain strict adherence to engineering designs and quality standards without exceeding the schedule.
“We need to hit the ground running. We cannot recruit staff without a space for them to work, and we cannot keep our staff under the sun. We insist on high standards because charity begins at home. Substandard work will not be tolerated by us or overseeing regulatory institutions.”

Also speaking, the Projects Executive Director, Princess Atika Ajanah, said the remodelling is timely as the commission prepares to embark on a regional recruitment exercise and launch its flagship 20-year development roadmap.
She said the upgraded headquarters will house administrative departments, executive directorates, and newly recruited personnel needed to execute the agency’s regional projects.
The contractor handling the North Central Development Commission headquarters project, Geodata World Services Limited, Site Engineer Engr Jim Jibril, assured that the project will be delivered within 16 weeks.
Jibril said all necessary arrangements to kick-start work have been concluded, and that equipment and machines were already being moved to Nasarawa State.
“This contract has been awarded to us by the North Central Development Commission. And I am assuring everybody here, if you come here in the next 15 to 16 weeks, you are going to see a new face of this building. I can bet you that.”
“The schedule has been taken care of; everything that needed to be done from our own side to kick-start the work. As we speak, some of our equipment and machines are on their way to Nasarawa,” Jibril noted.
