The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has unveiled a seven-point agenda aimed at addressing insecurity, unemployment, poverty and inadequate public services in the state ahead of the 2027 election.
At his campaign flag-off in Abeokuta, Adebutu presented the programme, tagged “ITURA DE”, which he described as a roadmap for economic relief, improved welfare, stronger security and responsive governance.
Presenting “ITURA DE” as a plan to tackle insecurity, unemployment, poverty and inadequate public services while strengthening local government councils, Adebutu said his priority would be to make government more responsive to the needs of ordinary citizens.

“Delivering true, tangible dividends of democracy is not merely our political mission; it is our unbreakable covenant with the people of Ogun State,” Adebutu declared.
The PDP candidate described the period beyond 2011 as 15 years of “regression”, blaming successive administrations for what he said were hardship, neglect and poor economic management.
He contrasted the period with the PDP administration between 2003 and 2011, which he said delivered stronger grassroots development and better welfare for workers and pensioners.
Adebutu pledged to settle outstanding pensions and gratuities and review the state’s Contributory Pension Scheme if elected.
“The dehumanisation of our civil servants and pensioners stops from the first day you put us in office with your votes,” he assured Ogun residents.
The governorship candidate also promised financial autonomy for the state’s 20 local government areas to accelerate grassroots development.
“True financial autonomy for our local governments will create additional twenty nodes of development,” Adebutu maintained.
On security, he pledged stronger protection for farms, highways and communities, while assuring residents that they would be free to support their preferred political parties without losing access to government services.
Adebutu also promised affordable financing, training and infrastructure to make agriculture more profitable, expand opportunities for young entrepreneurs and review multiple taxation affecting businesses.
“We shall review the predatory structures of double taxation currently choking our market men and women and small business owners in particular,” he stated.
The PDP candidate noted that Ogun State’s status as a major industrial and commercial hub should translate into more jobs, business opportunities and improved living standards for residents.
“For over 31 unbroken years, my roots, my wealth, my enterprises and my sweat have been irreversibly planted in the soil of Ogun State,” Adebutu said.
He explained that the “ITURA DE” agenda covers security and law and order; local government financial autonomy and workers’ welfare; urban development and transportation; rural and border communities; agriculture, economic and industrial development; women, youth and sports; education, healthcare and other social services.
Similarly, the deputy governorship candidate, Yemi Showunmi-Kolapo, urged residents to support the party, expressing confidence that an Adebutu-led administration would provide relief from poverty and maladministration.
Also, the PDP State Chairman, Abayomi Tella, appealed to voters to support Adebutu, assuring them that the party would reciprocate their mandate with improved social amenities, responsive governance and better living conditions.
