Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has announced N5 billion for the full equipping of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH), Akwanga, alongside plans to construct an access road to the New Tomato Market in Lafia.
Governor Sule announced the initiatives during a meeting of the Nasarawa Enabling Business Environment Council (NEBEC) at the Government House, Lafia.
He said the initiatives formed part of the state’s broader business environment reform agenda, funded through state and World Bank-backed support programmes.

The governor explained that the N5 billion allocation for DASH Akwanga would facilitate the installation of specialised medical equipment, making the facility fully operational to serve residents of Akwanga and surrounding communities.
The council also reviewed a proposal to construct a one-kilometre road linking the Abdullahi Adamu Housing Estate to the New Tomato Market in Lafia.
Sule said the road would ease traffic and stimulate commercial activities in the area.
“I trust that this meeting will produce clear, practical, and actionable decisions. The relevant MDAs will take ownership of the agreed decisions to ensure their timely implementation,” Sule stated.
The governor said reform projects were prioritised based on resource availability, directing relevant agencies to finalise cost details and precise project specifications.
He said both the DASH Akwanga equipment funding and the Lafia road project would proceed to the State Executive Council for final approval.
Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nasarawa State Investment Development Agency (NASIDA), Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the state’s One-Stop Investment Centre had been fully built.
He said its digital grievance redress portal was scheduled for an official relaunch by the governor in early October, as part of activities marking Nasarawa State’s 30th anniversary.
Abdullahi also disclosed that N1 billion from the state infrastructure fund had been committed as Nasarawa’s equity contribution towards the ongoing Karu Recreational and Resort Centre project.
He added that the remaining balance of the fund, invested in the money market, had generated more than N200 million in returns.
During the meeting, the Commissioner for Environment, Princess Margret Elayo, proposed establishing a resource and reference desk at NASIDA’s Karu offices to provide prospective investors with access to business setup guidelines.
Governor Sule commended the proposal, noting that it could be implemented within existing infrastructure without constructing a separate facility.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and fiscal compliance to ensure Nasarawa State remained eligible for continued World Bank support under its business-enabling reform frameworks.
