President Bola Tinubu has commended former Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, for his dedication to nation-building and national development, acknowledging his contributions across key sectors of Katsina State as he celebrates his birthday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President congratulated the former governor and joined his family, friends and associates in celebrating “a visionary leader whose legacy of public service remains a reference point in the country.”
President Tinubu particularly applauded Shema’s interventions during his eight-year tenure as governor, saying his administration raised the bar of governance through sustained investment in durable infrastructure and human development.

The Nigerian leader highlighted investments in rural roads, schools, business institutes and clinics and the development of a state-of-the-art specialist hospital, as some of the initiatives that characterised Shema’s administration.
Similar projects, including schools, business institutes, clinics and a specialist hospital, were also highlighted by the Presidency in its 2025 birthday tribute to the former governor.
Shema, a lawyer and politician, served as Governor of Katsina State from 2007 to 2015.
He is a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and currently serves on the party’s Presidential Campaign Council. The State House lists the former governor among members of the Council’s legal directorate.
President Tinubu thanked Shema for his continued support and wished him many more years of service to the nation.
The President also prayed that Almighty God would grant the former governor many more years in good health.
