Nollywood film has set a new Guinness World Record for the largest audience gathering for a film screening.
The record was achieved on Saturday at Tafawa Balewa Square, TBS, Lagos, where over 51,000 people gathered to watch the crime thriller ‘Black Market’.
The announcement was made on social media by FilmOne Entertainment, the film’s distributor, which described the moment as historic.

“We’ve officially set a WORLD RECORD for the Largest Audience Gathering Ever for a Movie Screening,” the company stated on its official page.
“51,000+ people came together for the love of film, and what started as a screening became a moment the world will remember. Nigeria, we didn’t just watch a movie. WE MADE HISTORY.”
The screening was organised as an official world record attempt, surpassing the organisers’ target of 50,000. The previous record of 43,624 viewers was held by the 2015 Filipino film ‘Felix Manalo’.
‘Black Market’ was produced by Rixel Studios, Signet Ring Studios and FilmOne Studios and is distributed by FilmOne Entertainment. The record attempt was staged by Switch Visuals.
