The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dr Binyerem Ukaire, has charged the Ministry and its agencies to take ownership of their responsibilities, monitor progress, tackle challenges promptly and ensure the delivery of measurable results.
Dr. Ukaire gave the charge in Abuja at the 2026 Third Quarter Delivery Task Team (DTT) Performance Review Meeting of the Ministry and its agencies, held at Music Studio 5, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Radio House.
She described the quarterly performance review as a critical mechanism for strengthening accountability, tracking progress and driving results across the Ministry and its agencies.
“A performing Ministry and Agency understands its goals and priorities, takes ownership of its responsibilities, monitors progress, addresses challenges promptly and delivers results,” she said.
The Permanent Secretary explained that the quarterly review was designed to measure progress against planned targets, identify challenges early, strengthen accountability and support informed decision-making.
According to her, performance tracking should provide clear answers to three fundamental questions:
“Where are we now? Where do we want to be? Are we moving in the right direction?”
Ukaire urged Directors, Heads of Agencies and DTT Desk Officers to move beyond simply reporting activities and instead focus on analysing results, identifying performance gaps and developing practical solutions to emerging challenges.
“Our responsibility must go beyond reporting activities; we must interpret the results correctly,” she said.
She commended the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman, and the CRDCU Delivery Manager, Barrister Uche Chikwe, for their continued support to the Ministry.
She further reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to providing the leadership and coordination required to translate government plans into tangible outcomes.
“The focus should be on moving from activities to results and from identifying challenges to solving them, in line with the priorities of the Federal Government,” she said.
Also speaking, the Director-General of FRCN, Dr Mohammed Bulama, said the Corporation had taken deliberate steps to align its operations with the Nigerian Government’s delivery framework.
“At FRCN, our work cuts across all eight priorities, but particularly priorities seven and eight, using creative arts, digitisation and innovation to inform, educate and entertain, while improving governance through credible information dissemination,” he said.
He noted that the Corporation remained committed to using its platforms and operations to support the achievement of the Nigerian Government’s priorities.
The quarterly DTT performance review provides a platform for the Ministry, its agencies and relevant delivery teams to assess progress, identify bottlenecks and strengthen implementation of government priorities.
