Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening bilateral relations with Germany, particularly in skilled migration, education, technology, green energy and vocational training.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Senator Ita Enang, stated this in Berlin during the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary celebration.
Enang said Nigeria valued Germany as a strategic partner in Europe and an important contributor to the country’s development agenda.
He said the longstanding relationship between both countries was founded on shared values, mutual respect, democratic principles and common economic interests.

According to him, cooperation between Nigeria and Germany has expanded across trade, investment, energy transition, education and sustainable development.

“Today, as we celebrate in Berlin, we warmly acknowledge and honour the long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Federal Republic of Germany,” he said.
The ambassador identified green energy, technological innovation, infrastructure, education, creative industries, skilled circular migration and vocational training as areas where bilateral cooperation could be further strengthened.
Enang also highlighted opportunities presented by Germany’s industrial strength and skills requirements, saying Nigeria had a young and highly skilled population capable of contributing to the German economy through appropriate legal and institutional processes.

He said the administration of President Bola Tinubu had taken steps to modernise Nigeria’s educational system and promote professionalism, entrepreneurship and skills development.
“For Nigeria, this is preparation meeting opportunities. We have young, skilled and well-endowed Nigerians who fit into this and are making themselves and their skills available through appropriate processes,” he said.
Enang noted that Nigerian institutions were increasingly being repositioned to produce professionals in fields including medicine, engineering, technology, academia and the creative industries.
Economic Interest
He said Nigeria was ready to engage Germany more actively on skilled migration and other areas of mutual economic interest.
The ambassador also commended the contributions of Nigerians living in Germany and across Europe, describing them as “proud ambassadors” of the country.
He urged Nigerians in the diaspora to remain united, law-abiding and committed to contributing positively to both Nigeria and their host communities.
Enang further reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to African and global cooperation, citing the United Nations, African Union, World Trade Organisation and African Continental Free Trade Area, AfCFTA, as important platforms for advancing international cooperation, regional security and socioeconomic integration.
He said Nigeria would continue to work with Germany and other global partners to build stronger bridges of collaboration and promote sustainable growth.
Quoting President Tinubu’s Independence Day message, Enang said Nigeria had “corrected its course” and urged Nigerians to remain focused on the country’s future.
He said the President’s vision was for “a Nigeria of abundance and opportunity,” where prosperity would be broadly shared and every child would have the opportunity to achieve their potential.
The ambassador concluded by calling for continued friendship between Nigeria and Germany, African unity and the growth and prosperity of Nigeria.
Enang encouraged enduring friendship between Nigeria and Germany, to the unity and prosperity of Africa, and to the continuous growth and greatness of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
