A special adviser to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, Mathias Agbo Omikpa, says Benue will deliver more votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
He expressed confidence that the party will improve its performance across the state, particularly in Benue South Senatorial District.
Omikpa, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development and Community Mobilisation, stated this in an interview with Voice of Nigeria in Abuja, attributing his optimism to the administration’s development projects and its support for President Bola Tinubu.
He said Governor Alia was committed to supporting the president and demonstrating the impact of federal resources through projects and development initiatives reaching communities across Benue.
“Benue will deliver even with much more votes! Yes, there are oppositions, but Benue will deliver much more,” Omikpa said.

“My Governor is one who is proud of Mr. President, and he’s doing his own bit to support. Like Mr. President will tell you, he has made so much money available to governors, ‘Go ask your governor,’ and that’s one man that is showing that, yes, money comes into Benue and showing workings down to the grassroots,” he added.
Electoral Alignment
Omikpa said the opposition performed better in Benue South during the last general elections, while the APC recorded a stronger showing in the state’s North-East and North-West senatorial districts.
He expressed confidence that the political situation would change in 2027, arguing that closer alignment with the federal government could help Benue South secure more development opportunities.
Citing a conversation with a former Senate President, Omikpa said he had been told that the Idoma people of Benue South had historically favoured aligning with the political centre.
“Last general election, the opposition did better in Benue South, but not in Benue North-East and North-West,” he said.
He added that the experience had reinforced his belief that the district should support the party controlling the federal government to improve its access to development opportunities.
“We have learned things that we shouldn’t be opposition. They have told us we shouldn’t be opposition, that Idoma as minority in the state always align with the centre. So, it is right, and we’re going to align with the centre,” Omikpa said.
The Special Adviser said the mobilisation effort was aimed at encouraging residents to support the APC and the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Alia.
He argued that electoral support could strengthen the district’s position when seeking more federal attention and development projects.
Omikpa also expressed confidence that the APC would record a significant victory in the state, citing the projects being implemented by the Alia administration.
