Troops Repel Terrorist Attack in Adamawa, Neutralise Six

Nokai Origin

Troops engaged in Operation HADIN KAI successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on Forward Operating Base Garaha, located in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

During this encounter, they neutralised six assailants and seized a variety of weapons, ammunition, and other combat equipment. This incident highlights the ongoing struggle for military dominance in Nigeria’s North-East region.

A statement by the Acting Military Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, said the attack occurred at approximately 21:07 hours when suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists advanced on foot from the LAR axis towards the military base.

Troops of Sector 4, Joint Task Force (North East), responded with coordinated firepower, forcing the attackers to retreat. Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the discovery of six terrorist bodies and the recovery of a range of weapons and battlefield equipment.

The recovered weapons included one PKT machine gun with three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles, 11 AK-47 magazines, 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one 60mm mortar bomb.

Troops also recovered an Infinix Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, a magazine carrier and assorted clothing.

The military reported that its personnel sustained casualties during the engagement. Wounded troops are receiving medical attention, while evacuation arrangements are ongoing.

Security forces have maintained heightened vigilance and continued operations around the area to prevent further attacks and identify additional items of operational significance.

For Operation HADIN KAI, the operational priority remains sustaining pressure on insurgent networks while protecting military installations and nearby communities.

Continued intelligence gathering, area exploitation and timely medical support for wounded personnel will remain important as troops work to prevent renewed attacks and restrict terrorist freedom of movement.

The Theatre Command remained committed to intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action, protecting vulnerable communities and supporting efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the region.
