Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed that personnel welfare, modern administrative structures, and functional accommodation remain directly linked to combat effectiveness, battlefield morale, and institutional resilience across all operational theatres.
Lieutenant General Shaibu stated this during the official commissioning of newly constructed administrative offices and residential accommodation facilities at Life Camp and Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Bwari, Abuja.
The events included the unveiling of the newly constructed Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Medical Corps at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, where the Chief of Army Staff charged the Corps to continually improve healthcare delivery to officers, soldiers, their families, and barracks communities.
Highlighting that comprehensive healthcare remains fundamental to troop morale and operational readiness, Lieutenant General Shaibu noted that responsive medical services give personnel confidence that their physical well-being, and that of their families, remains an institutional priority.

Addressing principal staff officers, commanders, and troops, the Chief of Army Staff emphasised that an army cannot be expected to deliver excellence on the battlefield while they face avoidable challenges in their workplace and living environments.
Lieutenant General Shaibu explained that a soldier who is confident that his family is accommodated in a safe, conducive environment is better positioned to concentrate on operational tasks, while an officer in a well-equipped workplace is better placed to make timely decisions and sustain high-intensity operations.
Providing an operational overview of the infrastructure drive, the Chief of Logistics (Army), Major General Adekunle Adeyinka, revealed that over 200 newly constructed and renovated residential, office, utility, educational, and training facilities have been completed across Nigerian Army formations nationwide within the past 365 days.
Major General Adeyinka commended the Army Chief’s commitment to continuity, prudent resource management, and accountability, noting that several projects commissioned during the event were initiated prior to the current administration and successfully brought to completion.
