Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has sworn in six newly appointed commissioners, three advisers and 19 permanent secretaries as part of efforts to strengthen governance, enhance administrative efficiency and improve service delivery across the state.
The swearing-in ceremony followed the confirmation of the six commissioner nominees by the Kano State House of Assembly on 26 October 2026, after completing the legislative screening process.
The newly sworn-in commissioners are Air Commodore Salisu Yusha’u (Rtd.), assigned to the Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services; Ibrahim Namadi Dala, Investment; Professor Sani Lawan Manunfashi, Higher Education; Muktar Ishaq Yakasai, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation; Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa, Science and Technology; and Idris Garba Mustapha, Special Duties.
In a related development, Governor Yusuf announced a minor cabinet reshuffle involving the redeployment of two commissioners to other ministries.
Under the new arrangement, Dr Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, formerly Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, has been moved to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, while Hamza Kachaco has been redeployed to the Ministry of Environment.
The adjustment leaves the Ministries of Information and Internal Affairs, as well as Solid Minerals and Mineral Resources, vacant pending further decisions by the state government.
A statement issued by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said the appointments and cabinet adjustments were designed to strengthen government institutions, promote administrative effectiveness and reposition key ministries for improved service delivery.
Governor Yusuf urged the newly appointed commissioners, advisers and permanent secretaries to demonstrate dedication, integrity and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
He emphasised the importance of placing public interest above personal considerations and working collectively towards the overall development of Kano State.
The governor further charged the appointees to align their responsibilities with the administration’s development agenda and ensure that the people derive maximum benefits from government policies and programmes.
He congratulated the new appointees and wished them success in their respective assignments.
