West Ham Sacks Manager after Consecutive Defeats

West Ham United have parted ways with manager Nuno Espirito Santo following consecutive defeats that left the club eighth in the Championship, as they continue their bid to return to the Premier League.

Espirito Santo took charge in September 2025 but was unable to prevent West Ham’s relegation to the second tier for the first time since 2011.

The club’s board said a managerial change was necessary to keep its objectives and expectations on track. West Ham had initially retained the former Tottenham and Wolverhampton Wanderers boss, who was named manager of the month in September, but results declined last month.

Successive home losses to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion ultimately led to his dismissal.

The club said the process of appointing a new head coach was underway. Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will temporarily oversee preparations ahead of Wednesday’s Championship match against Cardiff City.
