Kano state Governor Dr. Umar Ganduje has cast his vote at the on-going local government elections in the state.

He cast his vote at the Ganduje Chikin Gari polling unit, number 008  in Dawakin Tofa local government area at exactly 11:37 am local time, predicting sweeping win for the All Progressive Congress, party APC.

He said he was confident that APC will win all the 44 Chairmanship and 484 Councillorships positions up for grabs at the polls.

“APC will win all the seats not by force but through the ballot, that is our intention,” he said.

He commended the peaceful conduct of the election, especially the voters who were orderly.

From what you are seeing, the people are conducting themselves peacefully, the people are voting peacefully, there is no intimidation, no harrasment and they are voting the people that they like,” the Governor said.

He said conducting the election at this particular time is important because the tenure of those who were elected in the last three years will come to an end, by February, 2021.

The tenure of the those elected in the last three years is coming to an end and we do not want caretaker committees because it is unconstitutional. These ones being voted will replace them,” the Governor said.

He urged the electorate to continue to behave orderly despite party affiliations and vote those who will represent them.

The election has so far witnessed massive turnout of voters, of which majority are women.
