The Nigerian Government through the Federal Ministry of Health has developed a Handbook on Home Based covid-19 Care to guide patients.

The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire said this at the joint National Media briefing by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 in Nigeria.

According to him, the handbook will provide social support service and ensure positive outcomes for patients who will be each assigned to a specific case manager linked to a health facility.

“This will reduce pressure on health facilities and free bed space for serious and critical cases.”

Dr Ehanire further said that with the increasing number of covid-19 cases, the Federal Ministry of Health had continually reviewed its case management strategies to improve quality of care, as well as knowledge, attitude and skills of frontline health workers, to sustain reduction in fatality rate.
