Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation HADIN KAI, supported by the Nigerian Air Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have successfully repelled an attack by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on a military position in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attack occurred as troops continued counter-terrorism operations in the area.
The ground troops held their positions under sustained attack and responded with determined firepower, preventing the terrorists from breaching or overrunning the military location and forcing them to withdraw with casualties.

According to a statement issued by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, timely air support further strengthened the response.
The Air Component provided Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) coverage and conducted precision strikes against identified hostile elements as they attempted to withdraw.
The CJTF also supported the operation by providing local information and assisting troops with situational awareness during the engagement.
One soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the left arm during the encounter and was promptly evacuated for medical attention. He was stabilised and is responding to treatment, with his condition described as stable.
Following the terrorists’ withdrawal, troops commenced exploitation operations to assess the effects of the engagement, recover any abandoned weapons and equipment, and gather intelligence to support follow-up operations against the fleeing elements.
Troops remain on heightened alert across the area, conducting patrols, surveillance and other offensive and defensive operations to deny terrorist elements freedom of movement and action.
The military urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information on suspicious persons, movements or activities to the nearest security formation.
