President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has inaugurated the rehabilitated Karu Road Network in Abuja, saying his administration remains focused on improving the lives of Nigerians through critical infrastructure projects across the country.
He made the remark on Monday while inaugurating the newly rehabilitated and expanded roads from the Karu Interchange to the Customs Clinic Junction, alongside other adjoining roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu said the road projects and other infrastructural developments demonstrated his administration’s commitment to reducing urban congestion and improving living standards.
He explained that by expanding and rehabilitating the roads, his administration was not merely laying asphalt but reviving economic activities in the area.

The President noted that when his administration assumed office in 2023, it recognised that development must directly impact where people live, work and commute.
“Indeed, this project stands as a clear testament to our promise to resolve urban congestion and uplift the living standards of our people. It is a direct product of our Renewed Hope Agenda in action,” he stated.
President Tinubu observed that the Karu corridor, which serves as a critical gateway between the FCT and neighbouring states, had for years grappled with severe traffic congestion that drained the productivity and energy of residents.
He said the newly constructed and rehabilitated roads had significantly reduced travel time, eased traffic congestion and created a more enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
“A premium road network must also prioritise the safety of its users both day and night. To ensure maximum security along this corridor, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has installed modern solar-powered streetlights along the entire road network, illuminating dark stretches, drastically reducing nighttime crime, and improving visibility for motorists,” the Nigerian Leader stated.
The President attributed the rapid transformation across Abuja to what he described as the dogged, relentless and focused supervision of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
“I sincerely commend the Minister and his team. By prioritising high-density, strategic satellite nodes like Karu alongside the city center, the FCT Administration is validating our governance philosophy: that the wealth of this territory must yield practical, everyday comfort for all socio-economic classes.
“I also commend the contractor Abdul-Val Nigeria Limited for quality work and timely delivery. They have demonstrated that Nigerian firms can match international benchmarks for quality, structural integrity, and project management,” he said.
President Tinubu charged traditional rulers, market women, youth leaders and residents of Karu to protect the roads from vandalism and indiscriminate dumping of refuse that could obstruct drainage systems.
“Commerce, safety, and long-term community pride,” he said, should remain the foundation for preserving the infrastructure.
Earlier, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, said the support provided to the FCT Administration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was unprecedented and reflected his commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of residents.
Wike noted that residents of the territory and surrounding communities were overwhelmed by the developmental strides recorded in the FCT and assured them that the momentum would be sustained.
The minister also commended the commitment and professionalism of the contractor that handled the project, particularly for aligning with the Federal Government’s agenda to improve infrastructure nationwide.
Unwavering Commitment
The FCT Head of Service, Mrs Nancy Nathan, thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on behalf of the management, staff and residents of the territory for his unwavering commitment to national development and infrastructural renewal.
Presenting an overview of the project, the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), Zulkiflu Abdulkadir, said improving infrastructure in satellite towns and area councils, as well as enhancing the lives and livelihoods of residents, remained critical to the development of the FCT.
She said the project, which included the installation of solar-powered streetlights, construction of drainage systems and walkways, would significantly boost economic and social activities in Karu, the most populated satellite town in the FCT.
