Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has assured investors of sustained government support and protection of investments, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to creating a secure environment for businesses to thrive and contribute to the state’s development.
He gave the assurance when he received the management of Seplat Energy, led by its Chairman, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, during a courtesy visit to Government House, Uyo.
The governor congratulated Seplat Energy’s new Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Effiong Okon, on his appointment, expressing confidence that his leadership would strengthen the company’s contribution to the state
Eno said Okon’s new responsibility extended beyond the interests of Seplat Energy to include the development and wellbeing of its host communities and Akwa Ibom State.
The governor commended the company for its sense of responsibility and collaboration with the state government, urging Seplat Energy to sustain the partnership while developing stronger interventions to improve the fortunes of its host communities.

Eno also linked the state’s investment climate to its peace and security, noting that sustained cooperation among the government, security agencies and citizens had helped maintain stability and drive development.
He pledged continued collaboration with Seplat Energy to strengthen peace and create conditions that would support investment, economic activity and community development.
The governor commended Senator Udoma, whom he described as one of the great sons of Akwa Ibom, and expressed confidence that the new management of Seplat Energy would deliver on its objectives while deepening its impact on host communities.
Earlier, Udoma commended the governor for what he described as visionary and impactful leadership, explaining that the delegation was in Government House primarily to formally introduce the new Chief Executive Officer and strengthen the company’s working relationship with the state government.
Okon, in his remarks, expressed delight at returning home to serve the interests of Akwa Ibom and its people while contributing to the growth of Seplat Energy.
Other members of the Seplat delegation were the Director, External Affairs and Social Performance, Chioma Afe; Managing Director, Offshore Operations, Ikponwonsa Ogunwonyi; Vice President, Human Resources, Corporate Services, Emo Udobong-Ntia; and Vice President, Joint Venture Operations, John Itsueli.
Members of the Governor’s team included the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah; Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor to the Governor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson; Dean of Commissioners, Mkpisong Frank Archibong; members of the State Executive Council and other government functionaries.
