Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has ordered the full deployment of security agencies, including the Police, to Aguleri and Umuoba Anam communities in Anambra East Local Government Area following a deadly communal clash that left people dead and others injured.
The governor has also convened an emergency peace and security meeting with stakeholders from the affected communities for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Light House, Awka, as part of efforts to end the crisis and address its underlying causes.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime, he disclosed that the security deployment is aimed at restoring law and order, protecting lives and property and preventing further escalation of the violence.

Soludo directed both communities to immediately cease all hostilities, maintain peace and exercise restraint pending the outcome of the stakeholders’ meeting.
The governor expressed deep sadness over the casualties and injuries resulting from the clash, stressing that “violence, bloodletting, and destruction of property have no place in a peaceful and prosperous Anambra State.”
He directed that all grievances, claims and presentations concerning the dispute be channelled exclusively through designated representatives of the communities at the Awka meeting.
Security agencies deployed to the area have been tasked with enforcing the peace directive, safeguarding residents and preventing any further breach of the peace.
The intervention comes as the state government moves to contain the immediate security threat while pursuing dialogue aimed at achieving a lasting resolution to the longstanding communal dispute.
Soludo reassured residents that his administration remained committed to protecting lives and property and resolving communal disputes through peaceful means.
He urged the affected communities to maintain calm and allow the government-led peace process to proceed through dialogue and established channels.
