Top political figures from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties have converged on Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, to commiserate with former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, over the death of his maternal aunt, Hajiya Rukiya Jibril.
The condolence visit brought together senior officials of the Federal Government, APC chieftains and prominent opposition figures, reflecting a broad political presence at the family’s mourning.
Leading the Federal Government delegation was the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, who conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s condolences to Yari and his family.
Akume assured the bereaved family that they were not alone in their moment of grief, describing death as a transition and a return to Allah in accordance with His divine will and wisdom.
He urged the family to draw strength from their faith and the knowledge that the deceased had completed her earthly journey and returned to her Creator.

The SGF prayed for Allah’s forgiveness and mercy for Hajiya Rukiya, the acceptance of her good deeds and her admission among the righteous.
Receiving the delegation, Yari expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for extending his sympathy and solidarity to the family.
He also thanked Akume and other members of the delegation for travelling to Talata Mafara to honour the deceased and share in the family’s period of mourning.
Provided Comfort
Yari said the visit had provided comfort, encouragement and strength to him and his family, while praying for Allah’s continued guidance and blessings upon the President, the SGF and members of the delegation.
He appealed to Nigerians to remember his late maternal aunt in their prayers and seek Allah’s forgiveness, mercy and peaceful repose for her soul.
Among those who accompanied Akume were Niger State Governor Umar Bago, APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, former Imo State Governor Senator Rochas Okorocha, and former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The gathering also attracted prominent figures from opposition political platforms.
Former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, accompanied by Senator Abdul Ningi, represented the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while Senator Tony Nwoye led members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) delegation.
Hajiya Rukiya Jibril was the immediate younger sister of Senator Yari’s mother.
