The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned Mr. Abayomi Hunye’s declaration as its governorship candidate for Ogun State in the 2027 election, describing him as an impostor and a suspended member of the party.
In a statement signed by the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Basiru, the party said Hunye was suspended on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his ward in Ipokia Local Government Area.
The party said the suspension was initiated by the Ward Executives in Tube Ward, ratified by the Ipokia Local Government Area and subsequently approved by the Ogun State Working Committee.
According to the APC, Hunye was suspended over alleged “nefarious dealings” capable of damaging the party’s image and anti-party activities allegedly aimed at creating division among its members.
The party consequently said he lacked the legal and moral standing to represent the APC in any capacity.
The APC reaffirmed Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan as its duly nominated governorship candidate for the January 2027 Ogun State election, with Balogun Kudirat Abiodun as his running mate.

The party said the names and particulars of both candidates had been successfully uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, with acknowledgement slips issued to confirm their recognition as the party’s flag bearers.
The APC warned individuals and organisations against conducting political business with Hunye in the name of the party, saying they would do so at their own risk.
It also disclosed that its legal team had been directed to commence contempt proceedings and lodge complaints with relevant security agencies over what it described as misrepresentation and impersonation.
The party further urged the media and the public to disregard publications, interviews and documents from Hunye relating to the APC, while calling on its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding.
The APC said official clarification on the matter should be obtained from its National Secretariat through the Office of the National Secretary.
