The Senatorial Screening Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally cleared Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State to contest in the upcoming election.
Following this, Governor Yahaya is officially the consensus candidate of the APC for the Gombe North Senatorial seat.
He appeared before the party’s screening committee in Abuja, overseen by the APC Senatorial Screening Committee chaired by the party’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.
The screening also included other sitting Governors seeking re-election or contesting for Senate seats under APC.
Speaking to the aspirants, Professor Yilwatda praised the Governors for their service and contributions to governance, stressing that “the party has full confidence in its sitting Governors and their leadership abilities.”
“As a party, we will continue to back all our sitting governors. There’s no need to put you through a rigorous screening again, given that you’ve already undergone similar processes and served creditably in office,” the chairman said.

Professor Yilwatda said Governor Yahaya and his colleagues had met all Constitutional and Party requirements to run and were therefore duly cleared.
“Having satisfied all the necessary requirements, you are hereby requested to take a bow and go,” he concluded.
The Governor’s appearance before the panel follows growing momentum within the APC after he emerged as the party’s consensus candidate for the Gombe North Senatorial seat.
