The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with veterans, strategic stakeholders and international defence institutions as part of efforts to address Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The Army Chief made the reaffirmatiom while receiving the leadership of the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) Alumni Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Major General OO Oshinowo (Rtd), at Army Headquarters, Abuja, according to a statement issued by Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.

Lieutenant General Shaibu commended retired senior officers for their continued contributions to military strategy and national defence, noting that the Army would continue to leverage their experience and strategic perspectives in tackling contemporary security threats.
He also emphasised the importance of professional military education and stronger engagement with institutions such as the Royal College of Defence Studies, describing exposure to global best practices and emerging security trends as critical to building a more adaptive and mission-ready force.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Major General Oshinowo (Rtd) pledged the association’s support for national security efforts through strategic insights, professional expertise and policy recommendations.
He further commended the Armed Forces and other security agencies for ongoing gains against terrorism, banditry and related threats, expressing confidence that sustained operations would continue to enhance national stability and security.
