The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the importance of partnerships between the Nigerian Army and traditional institutions in strengthening military-civil relations and supporting national security.
Lieutenant General Shaibu made this known on Friday, 9 October 2026, during a visit to the Andoma of Doma Kingdom, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr Ahmadu Aliyu Ogga Onawo, at his palace in Doma, Nasarawa State.
The visit formed part of the Army Chief’s engagements in the community for the graduation ceremony of an elite Special Forces Battalion trained at the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Doma.

Shaibu acknowledged the strategic role of traditional institutions and host communities in intelligence gathering, early warning, building public trust and sustaining peace.
He appreciated the kingdom for its continued support and hospitality, emphasising that a whole-of-society approach remained vital to addressing contemporary security challenges.

In his response, the Andoma of Doma commended Lieutenant General Shaibu for his leadership and the establishment of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School in the kingdom, describing the institution as a significant contribution to the community.
The traditional ruler pledged the continued support of the institution and the people of Doma to the Nigerian Army, while offering prayers for lasting peace, stability and security across the country.
