The Director General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre NARC, Major General James Myam (Rtd), has called on military personnel, policy-makers, and public sector administrators to adopt critical thinking and adaptive decision-making frameworks to solve complex institutional, economic, and national security challenges.
He made the call while addressing graduates of the 2026 Critical Thinking and Adaptive Leadership Course, held at the NARC Headquarters in Abuja, following five days of intensive strategic instruction.
The Director-General was represented at the event by the Centre’s Executive Director Consult, Major General Arnold Okoro, at the closing ceremony.
He said the intensive capacity-building programme was specifically designed to strengthen human capital development, foster strategic reasoning, and equip cross-sector leaders with non-conventional problem-solving methodologies required to navigate an increasingly complex, digital, and rapidly evolving global environment.

He praised the sponsoring organisations, external evaluators, facilitators, and course scholars for delivering rigorous, practical instruction.
Also, he charged the graduates to serve as transformational ambassadors by actively applying their acquired knowledge, ethical conduct, and strategic vision to improve operational outcomes in their parent institutions.
Among the participating organisations, SERIA was fully represented, successfully graduating four members of staff trained to deploy these adaptive leadership principles within the strategic public broadcasting sector.
Delivering the participant reflection address, wife of former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, Mrs Salamatu Yahaya outlined the core pillars of the five-day curriculum, which encompassed goal setting, performance management, workplace conflict resolution, executive presence, change management, emotional intelligence, and integrated strategic communication for crisis handling.
Mrs Yahaya emphasised that leadership and national development remain deeply intertwined, noting that effective leadership extends beyond holding positional authority to exerting positive influence, fostering social awareness, and applying innovative, ethical solutions to drive sustainable growth across communities, institutions, and the nation at large.
Following the formal address, the Nigerian Army Resource Centre officially declared the course closed.
It reaffirmed its commitment as an institutional centre of excellence to conducting in-depth research, hosting specialised professional development programs, and providing actionable policy support for national defence and security.
