The wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Dr Ogechi Lokpobiri, has been commended for her humanitarian efforts and commitment to improving the lives of people in her community and beyond.
The commendation was made by the Vice President of Boardwalk Group, an Abuja-based real estate development and philanthropy organisation, Chief Mrs Obiageli Okwubanego, as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the creation of Bayelsa State.
The anniversary celebration, tagged “Celebrating Legacies”, featured the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Senator Lokpobiri by the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, in recognition of his contributions and service.

Speaking with journalists in Asokoro, Abuja, Okwubanego said Senator Lokpobiri and his wife had demonstrated commitment to improving the lives of people around them.
She commended the minister for his role in the oil and gas sector and his contributions to projecting Bayelsa State at the federal level.
Okwubanego also praised Dr Ogechi Lokpobiri for what she described as her humanitarian efforts and support for her husband’s public service.
According to her, Dr Lokpobiri represents the role of a supportive and productive partner who contributes to her family while also engaging in activities that benefit others.

She said her humanitarian activities extended beyond her role as the wife of a serving minister, adding that her compassion and commitment to community development had earned her recognition among people who had encountered her.
Okwubanego said the recognition accorded to Senator Lokpobiri during the Bayelsa @ 30 celebrations should also acknowledge the support of people around him, particularly his wife.

She urged public officials and their spouses to use their positions and influence to support initiatives that improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
Okwubanego said leadership should ultimately be measured by its impact on people’s lives.
