A 15-member delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Friday for a final inspection of facilities ahead of two major continental football events.
Nigeria is scheduled to host the 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly in Abuja on 21 November 2026 and the 2026 CAF Awards in Lagos on 7 December.
The General Assembly will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja, while the CAF Awards ceremony is scheduled for the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Lagos.
The inspection team, led by CAF’s Head of Safety and Security, Dr Christian Emeruwa, is expected to arrive in Lagos on Friday afternoon.
During the visit, the delegation will assess facilities and meet officials of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Eko Hotel & Suites and Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The team will also hold discussions with officials of the Lagos State Government on preparations for the awards ceremony.

In Abuja, the delegation will inspect facilities at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Transcorp Hilton Hotel and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The CAF officials are also scheduled to pay courtesy visits to the Chairman and Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
The forthcoming inspection follows an earlier assessment conducted between 31 July and 4 August 2026.
During the first visit, CAF representatives met officials of institutions and agencies involved in preparations for both events in Lagos and Abuja.
The discussions focused on coordination and arrangements for hosting the General Assembly and awards ceremony.
A six-member delegation from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), led by Dr Ademola Olajire, will accompany the CAF officials during the inspections in both cities.
