CAF Holds Two-Day Workshop in Cairo

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) will hold a two-day workshop in Cairo, Egypt, on October 29–30 to prepare qualified clubs for the group stages of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

The workshop follows the interclub group-stage draw held on Wednesday, October 28, at the Egyptian Football Association headquarters in Cairo.

Discussions will cover competition regulations, match organisation, refereeing, Video Assistant Referee (VAR) procedures, anti-doping, commercial requirements, media operations, television production, stadium security and disciplinary matters.

The sessions will also provide club officials with opportunities to engage with CAF departments, clarify operational procedures and strengthen coordination ahead of the competitions.

The initiative forms part of CAF’s efforts under President Patrice Motsepe to improve professionalism, operational standards and the financial sustainability of African club football.

As part of its increased financial support, CAF has announced a record $6 million prize for the Champions League winners and $4 million for the Confederation Cup champions. Clubs eliminated in the preliminary rounds will also receive $100,000 to support travel and other logistical expenses.

The group stages of both competitions will feature 16 clubs divided into four groups of four, with the opening matches scheduled for November 27–29, 2026.
