Central African Republic Unveils New Cabinet

President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, has appointed a new government one month after beginning his third term in office.

The new cabinet largely retains members from the previous administration, with 10 new ministers joining the 29-member government. Prime Minister Félix Moloua has also been reappointed.

Touadéra was re-elected in December with nearly 78 percent of the vote, according to official results. However, the opposition rejected the outcome, with rival candidate Anicet-Georges Dologuélé alleging widespread electoral fraud and accusing the president of concentrating power within state institutions.

The announcement came shortly after the opening of parliament earlier this month. Out of 144 parliamentary seats, only 90 lawmakers have been sworn in, while results for the remaining 54 seats are still pending following a strike by poll workers over unpaid wages.
