Data centre set to boost Internet capacity

Rack Centre, a data centre, has disclosed plans to expand its existing footprint and construct a 12MW IT data centre to boost internet capacity in the country.

According to the firm, the centre, which is situated in the Ikeja area of Lagos, will expand the firm’s capacity 10 folds.

It said the new data centre, known as Rack Centre LGS 2 data centre, will have access to the main commercial areas of Lagos.

It stated that with the expansion, its net lettable space will grow to 3,240sqm and the IT load will expand to 13.5MW.

The Chief Operating Officer, Ezekiel Egboye, explained that African businesses need more Internet capacity to support their operations.

He ascertained the company’s readiness to enable digital infrastructure by hosting many hyper scalers, content and cloud delivery networks, and Internet service providers at its facility.

He said, “The Lagos Campus Data Centre has grown to be the largest carrier and cloud-neutral digital infrastructure hub in West Africa, and with this expansion, we intend on further growing our thriving ecosystem.”
