Ebonyi Governor, Deputy receive Covid-19 vaccine in public

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi and his Deputy, Kelechi Igwe  on Thursday  received the Covid-19 vaccine at the New Government House, Abakaliki the state capital.

Governor Umahi was injected with the vaccine on his upper left arm by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Daniel Umezuruike.

In his speech after taking the vaccination, Governor Umahi urged everyone to take the vaccine since it is not harmful.

“You can see me and my Deputy who have taken the vaccination, we are still standing healthier and stronger,

Though the vaccine is not compulsory but observing Covid-19 protocols is very paramount. We are not going to relent until the virus is defeated entirely in our dear State and the country at large”, Umahi said.

Dr. Umezuruike explained that 0.5ml of the AstraZeneca vaccine was given to the Governor in the presence of the public and the Journalists.

Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe was given the vaccine by the same State Commissioner for Health Dr Umezuruike

Dr Igwe received the vaccine on his upper left arm as well.

Both the Governor and the Deputy were issued  with vaccination card by  the State Commissioner for Health.

Governor Umahi therefore set-up a committee that will spearhead the vaccination process across the State.

The committee is headed by his Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe.
