Edo Queens have emerged champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership, after holding defending champions Bayelsa Queens to a goalless draw in the decisive Super Six clash.
Edo Queens had put themselves in a commanding position heading into the final round after winning three consecutive Super Six matches, including a crucial 2-1 victory over Rivers Angels on Match day Four.
Needing only a draw to lift the trophy at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, Edo Queens produced a disciplined performance against a determined Bayelsa Queens side that entered the final day hoping to retain the title.
The encounter ended without goals, but the outcome sparked celebrations among the Edo Queens players and technical crew.
The result was enough for the Benin-based side to finish atop the Super Six standings and secure their second league title in three seasons. The victory reaffirms their status as one of the dominant forces in Nigerian women’s football.
The triumph also marked another milestone for head coach Moses Aduku, who guided the team through a successful campaign and added another league title to his growing résumé.
The title success comes two years after the club won its maiden NWFL crown in the 2023/2024 season.
By virtue of winning the league, Edo Queens will represent Nigeria at the WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, where they will seek a place in the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions League.

Rivers Angels’s Abasiofon Uwah and Edo Queens’ Atume Doosuur shared the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership Golden Boot after finishing the season with 13 goals apiece.
