The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has urged Nigerians to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence, stressing the need for collective efforts towards building a stronger and more prosperous country.

Governor AbdulRazaq made the call on Wednesday shortly after observing the Eid al-Adha prayers at the Ilorin Central Praying Ground alongside the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, top government officials, traditional rulers, political leaders, and thousands of Muslim faithful.

He said; “We thank Almighty Allaah for making us witness another Eid. My message is about peace, unity, and progress of the country. I wish us all Eid Mubarak.”

In the same vein, the Emir of Ilorin prayed for continued peace and prosperity in the state and across the country, urging citizens of the Emirate to remain united.

Delivering the Eid sermon, the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Shaykh Abdullah AbdulHameed called on Muslim faithful to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, and devotion associated with Eid al-Adha.

The Eid prayer, held in a peaceful atmosphere, attracted a large turnout of worshippers and dignitaries from across the Ilorin Emirate.

Among those on the Governor’s entourage were the Mutawali of Ilorin, Dr Alimi AbdulRazaq; the Turaki of Ilorin and Senator representing Kwara Central, Saliu Mustapha; and APC chieftain, Attahiru AbdulKadir Manko.

Other dignitaries at the prayer ground included the Waziri of Ilorin, Dr Bukola Saraki; the Grand Mufti of Ilorin, Shaykh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa; former Vice Chancellors, Prof. Shuaib Oba AbdulRaheem and Prof. AbdulRasheed Na’Allah; as well as former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Alfa Belgore.
