A total of 17 family members of Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) have voluntarily surrendered to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in separate incidents in Konduga, Bama Local Government Areas of Borno State.
The development followed sustained military operations across the North East, which have continued to weaken terrorist networks.
A statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, said 16 JAS family members comprising 10 women, six children surrendered to troops of 222 Battalion during a domination patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga at about 09:15 on 4 August 2026.
During preliminary debriefing, the group attributed its decision to Sustained operational pressure mounted by troops against terrorist enclaves. Security personnel also recovered ₦92,000 from the group.

In a related development, an 11-year-old JAS family member voluntarily surrendered to troops of 202 Battalion under Sector 1 in Bama Local Government Area at about 12:04 on the same day.
The minor also attributed the decision to sustained military pressure on terrorist enclaves.
Operation HADIN KAI said all surrendered individuals are undergoing profiling and preliminary debriefing in military custody before being handed over to appropriate authorities for further assessment, rehabilitation where applicable and other administrative processes in line with established procedures.
The theatre command noted that the latest surrenders reflect the cumulative impact of ongoing offensive operations aimed at dismantling terrorist enclaves, disrupting logistics networks and denying them freedom of movement across the North East.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations while facilitating safe, voluntary surrender of individuals willing to disengage from terrorist groups in line with extant guidelines.
